In 1992 The Lazy W Western Riding Club was founded by Meredith Rehn and Annie Gilbert and interested people in Wilmington and surrounding areas. Meredith already being a keen Western Rider and Annie having a keen interest to learn, Annie previously involved in Hacking. The Aim of this new Club being to promote Western Riding (which includes some English Classes) and of course the Wonderful Western Breeds of Horse, from Novice up to Advanced and open to all/other Breeds, for like minded people to enjoy their horses in a safe environment and improve their horsemanship skills.
Today the Club is still based at the Wilmington Rodeo Grounds, Main Road, Wilmington, South Australia and the Aim is the same, Our Show season usually starts in September on the Fourth Sunday of the month unless otherwise specified, with a break over the wet winter months. We hold Clinics and Training days as well as Shows.
The wonderful thing about Western Show is that there are events that cater for all horses from Weanlings upwards, handlers from tiny tots to people in their seventies whether you wish to ride or not, there are classes which will suit you.
