Lindsay Davison & Kylie Copeman
There is a growing whisper in Queensland about a young man with an uncanny natural ability and affinity with horses. His kind manner, caring attitude and firm but fair methods, have the desired effect on all of his young charges. Time to sit up and take notice people, this young gentleman is destined to make his make in an industry where the ‘thorough’ breaking or starting of young horses is fast becoming a seriously neglected art form.
Lindsay Davison is a 21 year old horseman with maturity beyond his years. Growing up in the far north west of Queensland meant his horsemanship was completely reliant on environment and genetic disposition. Lindsay was born into a strong grazing family with horses playing a major role in day to day activities. His early years were spent riding tough station stock horses with little training and a lot less formal education, it was a matter of jump on, hang on and ride, the ‘learn as you go’ approach to training.
It was during this time that Lindsay realised he had a natural way with horses and they responded in kind. He continued to break, ride and train young horses while competing in a variety of Campdraft & Rodeo events. Lindsay chose to rodeo part time for three years after leaving school, concentrating mainly on the saddle bronc events.
While mustering on a motorbike in the Gulf country, Lindsay was involved in a very tragic and life threatening accident. His mandible was almost completely dislodged and his tongue severed. At that moment, Lindsay’s future was very unsure. His doctors told him he could not ride for the immediate future and rodeo ruff riding was defiantly off the table.
Lindsay then realized some serious soul searching was required. After taking time out for recovery and rehabilitation, Lindsay decided it was time for a change of scenery and travelled to Toowoomba. It was here he met Kylie and the two decided to join forces and open Reflection Park Training Centre.

Kylie grew up in Ballina in North-eastern New South Wales, with horses playing a major role in her early development. Every spare moment she would jump on her horse and head off for a ride until the lack of daylight forced her to call it a night.
Her apprenticeship was served with her very competent quarter horse gelding, Mr Confusion, and the two competed successfully in all manner of western events. After purchasing her new quarter horse gelding, Spins Judgement, Kylie made the transition from youth to Amateur with ease. Together they have competed at all the major western events in Australia and achieved AmQHA Rookie of the in 2009/2010 show season.
Kylie’s talent for bringing the best out in her horses, professionalism and knowledge of western disciplines is the perfect balance for Lindsay’s ‘natural affinity with’ and understanding of the young horses psychological needs.
The two are ambitious, confident and grounded; they know what they want and are not at all daunted by the huge challenge/s they have set themselves. They have designed a realistic five year plan to include overseas tutelage, with leading trainers, in a wide variety of disciplines. This in itself will ensure the development of an all-round training centre that offers clients a 'one stop shop' for themselves and their horses, regardless of the level of experience.
Reflection Park Training Centre currently offers; Horsemanship Clinics, Private Tuition, Breaking/starting, Training and Show Preparation. Their prices are very affordable, their attention to detail and client satisfaction is unequalled.
Both Kylie and Lindsay keep the lines of communication open with their clients; via weekly progress reports, photographs and video clips. These two are a breath of fresh air in an industry where more often than not communication or the lack there of, sometimes is an owner’s major ‘bone of contention’. |

TESTOMONIAL
I recently took my 2yr old Quarter horse, 'TPL Mercury Rising', to
Lindsay Davison of Reflection Park for breaking and training.
To my delight I received a weekly call from Lindsay letting me know
how my horse was
progressing, with photographs to my email of Lindsay riding
Mercury, it was extremely exciting to get this feedback.
I went to visit three weeks after dropping him off, Lindsay proceeded
to get him from the paddock put the halter on and rode him bareback
down to the arena, things were looking good. He then saddled him up
and rode him for me, he was light off his leg, soft in the face and
very advanced for a
three week old breaker, I went home over the moon.
A few weeks later I received a phone call from Lindsay saying he had
ridden him at Liberty, no saddle or bridle in the arena and he was
great. I then received emailed photos from them
to show me, wow!!
I went to pick Mercury up and received a lesson from Lindsay to show
me what he could do which was fabulous, he had been with him for
eight weeks and was worth every week.
Lindsay put a lot of time into him and it shows, he is now home with
me and is an absolute pleasure to ride, he is much more advanced then
I thought he would be and I'm thrilled.
Lindsay Davison, Kylie Copeman and her family were
extremely welcoming and made me feel at home.
I cannot thank Lindsay enough for giving my two year old, 'TPL Mercury
Rising', such a great start, I would highly recommend Lindsay and Kylie
of Reflection Park to anyone looking for a great trainer and breaker. Annette Blakey |
